Q&A: Good luxury car for 16 year old?

08.06.2011 · Posted in Cars

Question by ……….: Good luxury car for 16 year old?

I’m 16 & my godparents insist on getting me a luxury car. They could never have any kids, so they treat me as their own. I just insisted on a Honda Civic Si, but they insist on a luxury car. So I narrowed it down to a new BMW 135i, certified pre owned 2009 BMW 335i (about 27,000 miles) , certified pre owned 2008 BMW 535i (about 35,000 miles) certified pre owned Lexus IS 350 (24,000 miles), a certified pre owned 2008 Porsche Cayenne (about 37,000 miles) They all still have warranties.
I do attend a private school that is about a 30 mile drive from my town & I carpool with 4 friends daily.
DO NOT answer if you’re just going to post like “you just need an old 89 Honda” or that I’ll wreck it by texting & driving. Yes, I can insure it & I know how much it costs. And I have a 4.0+ GPA.

  1. your so lucky! im 17 and my parents barley even let me use there car, my birthday was march 1 and did get anything these past two years, not a birthday cake… i will be SO lucky to get even a cheap broken down ” old 89 honda” …. which ever one you like better, personally i would go for the beamer

go for the 535 i why not it’s fast and cool, and you don’t need to tell people how smart you are, because having other people making this decision for you makes you seem kind of dumb.

  3. Hm. Bmw, acura, lexus, or mercede, mini cooper oh, and volvos are stylish and safe!

  4. Unless your friends are small they will hate sitting in the back of a 135, and the 335 isn’t much better. Ditto the IS (although that would likely be the most reliable of the bunch).

The 535 will be much more comfortable and still drive very nicely, and will be more efficient than the Cayenne.

ok, first off it depends on where you live. if you live in an 4 seasoned area you will want the Porsche Cayenne, this is because all of the other cars you have said are back wheel drive and will do nothing for you in snow and ice no matter what kind if tires you have. my family has a Lexus ls 460 and it slips everywhere in the winter. second it depends on where you live, haha, because to get a Porsche properly repaired you need to take it to a Porsche dealership. i am a BIG Porsche enthusiast and moved to a city with a Porsche dealer to accommodate my needs. but here is the problem. if you live in a 4 seasoned area, say Iowa, there is no Porsche dealer and there is also much snow in the winter. you are sunk.
all of these cars are going to have repair costs because they are all AWESOME!!!
last, and this will most affect you. no insurance company in the world will insure a 16 year old driver under a Porsche, no matter what model. tip: if you have schuab insurance, list yourself under a P.O.S. car and they will still insure you on every car. i have my son on a 2000 volvo station wagon, but he drives Porsches, suped up toyotas and mitsu 3000 gt’s.
your best bet is on the bmw 3 series or 1 series or Porsche depending on where you live. here to help.

id get the porsche you could get some BITCH’$ in that but then some people will be very very very jealous of you but o well same is gonna happen to me i’ll have a 1968 camaro the baddest, faster car in the schools parkin lot or ill have a charger with 24s,tvs,and lambo doors o yeah and a very loud system i just love to make people jealous
get the porche and make the parents of your peers say what a spoiled rotten brat.he is it will feel good.

you will even have a nicer car than the teachers man

Out of everything you listed here your best bet is going to be the 535 or the 335. every thing else is going to kill you when it comes to maintenance and repairs. The FACT is that BMW is actually cheaper to repair them most Jap cars.

However, I really have to question if at 16 you are even ready for any of the cars you listed. Especially the Porsche or the Bimmers. You are way to your to have any appreciation of responsibility for any of them. Sorry, just being honest.

I would suggest getting a KIA. Statistically speaking you are going to total it out anyway.
