Eheim ECCO 2232 vs Rena XP1 vs Marineland C-160 vs Eheim Classic 2213 vs Fluval 205?
Question by djkobra81: Eheim ECCO 2232 vs Rena XP1 vs Marineland C-160 vs Eheim Classic 2213 vs Fluval 205?
I can get any of these for within of each other. I need an honest opinion of the best to go with and why. I know that is is just personal opinion, but need help. I have a 20G Tall tank, freshwater. My water stays murky no mater what I do. I have used canisters in salt and have had luck so I am trying them again. Please let me know which is best and which one to stay away from. I need at least 3 people to respond. Thank you. I have heard that Eheim is the “Mercedes” of filters, but how true is this?
I need a solid recommendation please.
I am just looking for someone to say what they would use. I have read good things about the Eheim classic 2215. If you had the choice which would you use.

I have used all of these filters and would easily recommend any of them. I currently use an Eheim 2215 and a Fluval 204 and am happy with both.
Eheim makes a great filter, but the classic models do tend to lose a lot of power over time and the ecco model is not very good.
LOL what qualifies as a “solid recommendation. Clearly having success with these filters is not deemed “solid”.

As the filters are probably going to be similar in performance, I’d go with the quietest.
Btw a 20G tall probably doesn’t have the horizontal real estate for proper biofiltering. We added a separate biofilter (ugly round sponge) that makes a huge difference in water clarity. In the back of the tank, masked with some tallish plants, and it looks like it is just a bubbler.
